Named after an early Kentucky bourbon pioneer, Basil Hayden uses a higher-rye mash bill and is bottled at a lower proof than many of its Beam family siblings, making it approachable without sacrificing flavor.
Expect a nose of black pepper, light citrus and toasted grain, with a palate that's smooth and gently spiced, showing peppery rye, honey and subtle mint, finishing crisp and clean rather than heavy. It's often described as one of the more approachable bourbons for newer whiskey drinkers.
