Smoke Wagon Small Batch Whiskey is a high-rye bourbon aged in the heart of a century-old brick warehouse, hand-selected batch by batch to create a smooth yet bold and intense blend. Released in 2016, the whiskey was designed to deliver a great-tasting, high-rye bourbon while solving a common problem: rye ages differently than corn.
Younger vintages brought bold rye spice but felt thin on the palate, while older vintages developed a smooth, sweet complexity from years moving in and out of #4 char and caramelized oak, but lost some of that signature rye kick. Smoke Wagon's solution was to blend the two — younger stock keeps the spicy, fruit-forward character intact, while older stock lends a creamy mouthfeel and deeper aromatic sweetness.
